Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how The Acquirers Club collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit our website, join the community or participate in our programmes.

Last updated: 9 October 2026

1. Who we are

The Acquirers Club is run by Acquisitiv ("we", "us", "our") at club.acquisitiv.co.uk. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described in this policy. This means we decide how and why your information is used.

You can reach us about privacy through our Contact page.

2. Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the Club. Depending on how you use it, this may include:

  • Name and work contact details, such as your work email.
  • Employer, job title and business information, such as company name and revenue range, if you choose to give them.
  • Membership registration information, including when you joined and which version of our Terms and Guidelines you accepted.
  • Programme applications and waitlist details, for Acquirer Membership or the Acquisition Accelerator.
  • Community posts and participation, such as messages and attendance at briefings.
  • Contact form submissions, including the subject and message you send.
  • Communications and marketing preferences.
  • Website usage information, such as pages visited, how you arrived and your device type, collected by Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies (see section 11).
  • Payment or billing information, only if you buy a paid product. Card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.

3. How and why we use your information

We use your information to:

  • register and manage your account;
  • deliver membership benefits, resources and events;
  • moderate the community and enforce our Community Guidelines;
  • answer your enquiries;
  • review waitlist entries and programme applications;
  • send service messages about your membership;
  • send optional marketing, only if you have agreed;
  • keep the website secure and improve it;
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Lawful bases

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information. We do not rely on consent for everything. Our bases are:

PurposeLawful basis
Creating and running your free membershipContract: needed to provide the membership you asked for
Service emails (access, briefings, account changes)Contract
Reviewing waitlist entries and applicationsSteps taken at your request before entering a contract
Answering enquiriesLegitimate interests: responding to people who contact us
Community moderation and safetyLegitimate interests: keeping the community trustworthy
Optional marketing emailsConsent, which you can withdraw at any time
Website security and improvementLegitimate interests; consent where non-essential cookies are used
Accounting, tax and legal recordsLegal obligation

5. Email communications

We send two kinds of email, and we keep them separate.

Service messages

These are needed to run your membership: welcome and access details, briefing invitations, account and security notices, and replies to your enquiries. You'll receive these while you are a member.

Marketing

These tell you about other Acquirers Club programmes, events and services. We only send them if you tick the optional box when joining, or agree later. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can change your preferences at any time.

Joining the Club never signs you up to marketing from CDI Global or any other separate business.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Club, under contracts that require them to protect it. These may include providers of:

  • website hosting;
  • the membership and community platform;
  • email delivery;
  • website analytics (Google Analytics), only if you accept analytics cookies;
  • payments, if you buy a paid product.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of members and others.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process personal information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate protections are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

For example, Google, which provides Google Analytics, may process website usage data in the United States and other countries.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above.

RecordHow long we keep it
Member account recordsWhile you are a member. When you leave, we delete or anonymise them, except anything we must keep by law.
Contact enquiriesAs long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
Marketing preferences and consent recordsAs long as you receive marketing, and afterwards only as needed to show we respected your choice.
Waitlist entries and applicationsUntil the programme opens or your application is decided, unless you become a member or ask us to keep you informed.
BackupsOverwritten on a regular cycle. Deleted data drops out of backups as they are replaced.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. These include encrypted connections, access limited to people who need it, and suppliers who meet recognised security standards. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • have your information erased;
  • restrict how we use your information;
  • object to our use of your information, including for marketing;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 12. We will respond within one month, as the law requires.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

11. Cookies and analytics

We use two kinds of technology on this website.

Essential

We store your cookie choice in your browser, so we don't ask you again on every page. This is needed for the site to work as you'd expect, so it doesn't need your consent.

Analytics (only with your consent)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how people find us. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_D0EMHZ2Z6R, which normally last up to two years. Google Analytics only runs if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you click "Reject", no analytics cookies are set.

You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, you can also clear existing cookies in your browser settings.

12. Contact

For questions about this policy or your personal information, use our Contact page and choose "Privacy or data protection".

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page, and tell members about significant changes by email.
